Electric Vehicle Charging
This guide covers the operation of the Rolec Quantum EV Charging Pedestal with dual (7.4kW) sockets. You will need your type 2 charge cable.
It details how to use both the Monta app and the Payter contactless payment terminal to initiate and manage charging sessions.
Using the Monta App
The Monta app provides advanced features like scheduling and real-time monitoring.
Initial Setup: Download the Monta Charge app and create an account. scan the QR code on the unit to pair it with your Monta account.

Starting a Charge:
- Open the Monta app and locate the Rolec Quantum charger on the map or under your chargers.
- Select the specific socket you are plugged into.
- Select your car (optional) and choose a payment method.
- Swipe to Start in the app to begin the session.

Charging Modes:
- Charge Now: Immediate charging at full 7.4KW power.
- Scheduled Charge: Set specific start and end times.
- SmartCharge: Automatically schedules charging.

Using the Payter Contactless Terminal
The Payter terminal allows for "Tap & Charge" functionality, mimicking a standard parking meter experience.
- Connect Cable: Plug your EV charging cable into your vehicle first, then into one of the two Rolec Quantum sockets.
- Select Socket: On the Payter terminal's 3.5" LCD touchscreen, select the parking bay or socket number you are using.
- Authorise Payment: The screen will display the pre-authorisation amount. Tap your contactless bank card or mobile payment device (Apple/Google Pay) on the terminal.
- Start Charging: Once payment is approved, the status LED on the charger will change from flashing blue (ready) to fixed green (charging).
- End Session: Unplug the cable from the vehicle first, then the charger, to allow the socket lock to disengage.
LED Status Indicator Guide
According to UK Green Energy Installations, the LEDs on a Rolec unit communicate the following:
- Flashing Blue: Socket is available and ready for a charge.
- Fixed Blue: Cable is plugged in, but the session has not started.
- Fixed Green: Charging is successfully in progress.
- Flashing Red: A fault has been detected. Reset the unit at the source breaker for 20 seconds.
