Our Water
The Story of Our Water: From Deep Earth to Your Glass
We believe the best water isn’t found in a plastic bottle—it’s found 100 metres beneath our feet. Our supply is drawn from a private borehole deep under the farm, providing a taste of the Somerset landscape in its purest form.
Nature’s Own Filtration
Before it even reaches our modern treatment system, your water has spent years being naturally purified by the unique geology of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape
It slowly percolates through distinct geological layers:
- 12 Inches of Fertile Topsoil: The start of the journey, where organic life begins the cleaning process.
- The Flint & Chert Ridge: As the water moves deeper, it passes through ancient flint and chert rock, which act as a rugged natural sieve.
- The Clay Barrier: A dense layer of clay provides a slow, meticulous filtration, stripping away larger impurities.
- Upper Greensand Aquifer: Finally, the water reaches the "Greensand"—a famous ancient seabed layer from the Cretaceous period (about 100 million years ago). This layer is world-renowned for acting like a giant natural sponge, holding water that is exceptionally clean and mineral-rich.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. The energy required to pump this water from 100m underground up to your tap, our luxury spa, and the swimming pool is generated by our on-site solar panels.
When you take a dip in the pool or a sip from the tap, you are enjoying a 100% "closed-loop" system that respects the planet.
Why this matters for your stay:
- The Spa Experience: Because we fill our spa and pool from this deep-ground source, you’re bathing in water that is softened and UV-sterilised, leaving your skin and hair feeling silky and chemical-free.
- Zero Miles, Zero Plastic: Your water hasn't been driven across the country in a lorry. It has travelled less than 100 metres from the ground to your glass, powered by the sun.
